Who is SMAG Art Limited?
History/Background
In February 2017, a small group of local artists had the idea to use the beautiful space of St. Michael and All Angels Church, 1 Pond Road, Blackheath, SE3 9JL as an art gallery. SMAG Art Ltd runs two exhibitions a year (typically in May/June and October/November) and aims to raise funds for local charities as well as showcase local talent.

SMAG Art raises money through commissions on sale of artwork as well as from Artist entry fees and the occasional donation. Almost all funds raised (barring basic expenses incurred to run the non-profit business) are given to local charities in the Greenwich/Blackheath areas.

Due to COVID, SMAG ART developed an online presence following the cancellation of the planned physical exhibition in May 2020. This online presence remains and is complementary to the physical exhibitions.

SMAG Art Limited is a not-for-profit company run entirely by volunteers.

Next Physical Art Exhibition in October/November 2025 (complementary to online)
Our last exhibition, SMAG 17 during Oct./Nov. 2025 had representation from 94 artists displaying 257 pieces of artwork, attracted over 810 visitors and led to the sale of 81 pieces of artwork valued at £8,241. This allowed us to give £3,900 to charity, bringing our total charitable contributions since inception to £49,320.

We will be hosting our next physical art exhibition during May 2026 at St. Michael's and All Angels Church, 1 Pond Road, Blackheath, London SE3 9JL.

We are maintaining the submission limits from SMAG 17 - three pieces per artist but only if submissions are in by a designated date (i.e. by or on the 30th September).

Post 30th September, we will only accept submissions of two pieces from an artist.

New: Jotform Online Entry Form Submission Deadline:
Artists are required to submit their Jotform online submission form prior to physical artwork drop and no later than 5pm on Thursday, 16th October.

Despite the earlier Jotform Submission Deadline for Entry Acceptance, artwork drop-off dates are still along the same timeline on the normal Sunday - Tuesday dates prior to Thursday Opening Night as previous (see table below).

The earlier Jotform online submission form will allow us to manage the catalogue production, physical exhibit set up with numbering of pieces and more time to ensure all works that wish to be online will be so prior to Opening Night.
We hope you understand but as always, please let us know if these dates will cause any issues.
