Background
I began my career in advertising as a conceptual copywriter, graphic designer, and creative director. I left corporate life having positioned global companies around the world, and run strategic consulting projects in India and Turkey. I hold degrees in English literature, Education, and Business from York University in Toronto. I am a self taught artist.

My Practice
2D images are created by hand repainting, digitally, my photographs from around the world. Treating the photograph as a canvas, images are interpreted as they are painted with a "brush", sometimes in layers, sometimes with washes, and pixel by pixel where detail demands. Inspired by the natural world, landscapes, seascapes and wildlife dominate my portfolio, ranging in style from bold saturated abstracts to soft, textured tones.

Last year I expanded my practice to create 3D, mixed media pieces. The first collection is one-of-a-kind wall hangings made from reclaimed iron, wood, and rope from the Thames River, and shells and stones from various coasts around the UK and the shores of the Mediterranean.

Publications

Two companion books, which together present an interpretation of the ancient Chinese world view, and use it as a framework for creative expression. Twelve: Shengxiao Zodiac Creatures in Art and Words includes 32 fine art images of the twelve “Year of” Chinese zodiac animals, and twelve short stories. Five: Wuxing Elements in Art and Words features 81 landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes and abstracts aligned with the five Chinese wuxing themes of wood, fire, earth, metal and water. They are read-only on issuu.com
