I have lived in Greenwich borough for more than 30 years and alongside a 'normal' day job I have always been a creative. Over 20 years ago I signed up for a watercolour class at Greenwich College which was cancelled and tried 'pottery' instead. I was hooked and have been doing it ever since. For most of this time I have primarily been a slab hand builder using a myriad of decorating techniques, but in more recent years have tried to start throwing my own vessels on the wheel. I fear I may have started too late as it takes a lifetime to really master!

In addition I am a traditional Chinese brush painter, using authentic xuan (rice) paper, inks and watercolours. I like the aesthetics, subject matter and the beauty obtained from simple lines achieved with the Chinese brushes.

I combine both disciplines by creating wall plaques, dishes and vases, then either hand painting or carving Chinese motifs directly on the clay. In particular, crabs, prawns, orchids and bamboo not to mention a few dragons. I am Chair of the London Chinese Brush Painters Group.

I also take part in both Greenwich and Art Plumstead Open Studios.
